كذلك لا نعرف عن بدايات التأليف في تاريخ الطائف -وخاصة المؤلفات التي أفاد منها اللاحقون- سوى مؤلف في تاريخ الطائف لابن أبي الصيف (ت ٦٠٩هـ) الذي كتب كتابًا بعنوان «زيارة الطائف» كان فيما بعد أحد المصادر الرئيسية للميورقي (ت ٦٧٨هـ) ومَنْ بَعْده من الذين أرّخوا للطائف.
