Mangroves are extremely important to the coastal ecosystems they inhabit. Several species are listed as vulnerable or endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. Therefore, this book aims to give an account of first-hand information on the current status of mangroves covering various aspects of the respective States of the World. This information will help evolve common strategic plans for global conservation and restoration of mangrove forests. The Nature Conservators (TNC) has been doing mangrove restoration work for decades, in countries from Mexico to Indonesia, but we need to expand our efforts. The present book is a collection of comprehensive information on the status of the mangrove forests of different States of the world. Such collective information at one look would help us to evolve common strategic plans for the conservation and restoration of lost mangrove forests and biodiversity for the benefit of not only humankind but also for the restoration of lost plant and animal biodiversity. The strategic plans for conservation and restoration may promote advanced research in this field.
