Mathematics in the Modern World

Mathematics is the study of pattern and structure. The patterns and structures in mathematics are universal and fundamental to almost every aspect of human endeavor. Fascination in the nature of mathematics, along with the objective of presenting various areas of mathematics applicable to everyday life in a simplified manner, led the authors to come up with this textbook. Modern world applications should allow for appreciation in their complexities by opening up the simple ways toward their understanding. Mathematics can be presented as a language in itself about patterns around us, financial undertakings, social interaction, areas associated with coding, graphs and networks, and processing of data and information, all guided by logic and reasoning.
